Micro Talk - What will my EHCP look like? What is a good EHCP

Run by SEND Education Advice Team at Skylarks
Skylarks offers a series of Micro Talks. These are small, online groups with a maximum of 5 families and a member of the SEND advice team. Please book early to be sent the link to the video call.

Micro talks focus on different aspects of the SEND processes with a format of

  • 20 - 30 mins of presentation.
  • 15 mins for general questions.
  • Discussion in more detail of individual cases.

This small group online session is for parents and carers who have received an agreement from a local authority that they will carry out an assessment for an Education Health and Care plan but have not yet received the plan.

Please wait for the letter from your Local Authority agreeing to carry out an assessment before booking on this course because it maybe that you will need to book on the "refusal to assess" micro course first

After this course you should be able to
  • Give an overview of the sections in an EHCP
  • Describe the purpose of Sections B, F and I and why they are important
  • Explain the process and timescales applicable after you have received your Draft EHCP

We will look at what evidence is used to write these sections of the plan and how the reports received by the local authority will influence the content of the draft plan and discuss which sections can be changed and the potential evidence that you may need.

If you have received a draft EHCP plan then please look for a 'Reviewing a Draft EHCP course as this will be more of a workshop session and will provide you with an opportunity to focus on more specific issues you may have with the draft you have received.
