We are very pleased to be able to offer you, free of charge, a workshop suitable for families who have a child with additional needs. Everyone is welcome, including siblings, parents and carers.
The workshop is being organised by the Holly Lodge Centre and is being offered exclusively to our families.
The session will involve nature trails, art, creativity and fun! It will be tailored to suit the needs of our children and is suitable for all ages. The nature trail is fully wheelchair accessible and there is a raised pond for looking at pond creatures and accessible logs for searching for mini-beasts under. Parents are asked to stay with their children and enjoy a fun day out.
Please bring a picnic lunch for your family. The session will take place whether the weather is beautiful or pouring with rain as there is also indoor space for activities.
The event will take place at the Holly Lodge Centre, which is the head office and education centre in Richmond Park.
There are spaces for 8 families. Please book your place below as soon as possible. If you book a place and then for any reason can’t come, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can offer your place to someone else.
If the session is full, please add your name to the waiting list here:
A few notes about the day:
We will have a few staff / volunteers to help, but you are responsible for your children. If you need guaranteed extra help, please arrange to bring another adult with you.
Please be aware that there are tractors and horses also using Holly Lodge and that there are ponds on the nature trail - please supervise your children at all times.
Please bring a picnic lunch for your family and a picnic rug if you want one. There are picnic benches available. Please make sure you don’t bring any products containing nuts.
The session will take place whatever the weather. Please bring a raincoat and wellies for you and your children, if it looks like rain – or make sure they have suncream and a hat, as appropriate!
Holly Lodge also suggests you and your children wear long trousers or leggings, not shorts or a skirt (no bare legs) and please wear trainers or sensible shoes.
There are disabled toilet facilities, including a changing bed and hoist.
Holly Lodge is about half way between Richmond Gate and Sheen Gate, if you are driving. The nearest pedestrian gate is Cambrian Gate, about half a mile’s walk.
DIRECTIONS
If you go into Richmond Park through the main Richmond Gate at the top of the hill, you take the left hand road at the roundabout towards Roehampton. Holly Lodge is then about half-way to Roehampton - there is a turning marked on the left. There is parking available at Holly Lodge. The car park that we will use is through the gates and over the cattle grid. Please wait in the car park and we will be escorted to our meeting place.
The Centre is located within the Park at Holly Lodge, which is the administration centre of the Park. It is down a small lane approximately half way between the Richmond and Sheen Gates, and signposted as ‘Holly Lodge’. When guests arrive at the Centre they must wait in the visitors bay and call 020 8940 8730. A member of the team will come out and collect them.
On foot, the nearest gates are Richmond Gate and Bog Gate.
